This site is designed as a one-stop community for high school debaters at the The Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet High School. The primary purpose of the site is to act as a vehicle in which students can exchange debate evidence, share argument ideas and discuss the theory of debate.
ADMIN - this page allows students to check the upcoming events for the team including the tournament schedule. This page will also have travel forms and the Debate Society Handbook available for download.
Novice Center - this page allows new debaters (aka novices) to view videos of practice rounds or listen to lectures. The discussion board is monitored by the student captains to provide peer E-mentoring as a means to supplement the current Debate Mentor Program.
Coaches Corner - this page provides debaters with an opportunity to ask coaches questions about debate arguments, class lessons or debate strategy
RESOLVED - this page provides students with an avenue to discuss current and past debate resolutions. Students may also use this forum to discuss potential arguments and share evidence and debate "blocks." This is also a non-competitive "safe place" for debaters to get feedback on new and experimental arguments.
SEMINAR SESSIONS - this page is used in conjunction with ongoing class seminars. Here students may continue to discuss seminar sessions while monitored by the instructor.
STATUS QUO - this page acts as a student Op-Ed and discussion board for current issues and events
Debate Links - this page provides students with additional web resources to use for independent research and interacting with the larger debate community.
BLOG - this page explores the anthropological and social aspects of the debate activity. It also serves as a reflection journal for tournaments.
BAREFOOT DEBATERS PODCAST - a series of podcast lessons conducted by Don Gonzalez and Angela Taylor covering the basics of debate. The podcast is linked to a discussion board on this wiki to permit students to post comments and questions. Future podcasts will also include mini-lecture from the varsity debaters and skills drills.
